Shanel is a licensed mental health counselor who has been practicing neurofeedback therapy since 2014. Shanel has always been interested in holistic approaches and was naturally attracted to neurofeedback due to its non-invasive and non-drug based form of treatment. She effortlessly combines counseling in conjunction with neurofeedback therapy and is rewarded by seeing her clients achieve positive results. Shanel enthusiastically supports her clients’ efforts to change, grow, and achieve their goals, and provides a gender affirming space.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Arcadia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Shanel earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Holy Family University. She has a K-12 School Counseling certificate and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is also working towards becoming BCIA board certified in neurofeedback, having already completed practical skills training and the didactic education portion of the program.
Shanel works successfully with all individuals, expanding on her experience and training with children and adolescents. This experience includes working with clients with ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, depression, mood disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, and many other challenging behaviors. Shanel’s gentle effectiveness with social skills technique training is particularly valuable for the younger population. She applies her talent and experience with a warm, empathetic, and comforting approach.
Shanel’s background as a high school and college tennis player contributes to her understanding of the particular stresses and challenges of youth athletics; such as balancing academics, social life, and athletic performance. She appreciates the need for sharp attention and focus and utilizes neurofeedback therapy as a tool to assist athletes of all levels. Neurofeedback therapy can be utilized with issues around performance anxiety, mental sharpness, stress management, burnout and many other areas.
During her leisure time, Shanel likes to spend time exercising outdoors. She is fluent in Italian, enjoys cooking, and loves animals. Overall, her greatest passion in life is to help others.
